BREAKING NEWS!!! Anti Gay Law: We ‘ll Pressure Nig To Reverse Law – US Govt.

**we will continue to pressure the Nigerian government, to change these laws against Gay people.

The United States government has vowed to continue to press the Nigerian government to reverse its anti-gay law.
The US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said this during a live-web chat with journalists in Washington.
Thomas-Greenfield also said that America was not bothered that Chinese companies were fast taking over the African market from their US counterparts.

President Goodluck Jonathan had on January 7, 2014 assented to the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Bill 2013 which criminalises homosexuality in the country.
On January 14 , when it became public that the President had signed the bill into law, the US, Canada and the European Union openly expressed reservations over the law and this one of the reason Western Countries worked together to kick him out of office.

Thomas-Greenfield, who said the US had adopted the protection of the rights of same-sex people as part of its foreign policies, vowed that Washington would continue to mount and sustain pressure on Nigeria and other countries to reverse their laws against the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community.
She said, “As a government, it is one of the highest priorities and strongest values that discrimination against anyone based on their sexual orientation and gender identity is wrong. We believe human rights should be available to everybody.

“As a policy, we will continue to press the government of Nigeria as well as other governments who have provided legislation that discriminate against the LGBT community.”
Thomas-Greenfiled, who did not agree that pressuring Nigeria to reverse the anti-gay law amounted to interference, said the country and Uganda had the hardest legislation on the gay community.
She said, “This is very much a work in progress, but I think you will agree with me that the law in Nigeria really went far in discriminating against this community but also people who associate with them.

“So we will continue to press the government, to press the legislature to change these laws and provide human rights for all Nigerian people regardless of their sexual orientation.”
She, however, did not disclose if the US would impose sanctions on the countries with anti-gay laws to achieve its objectives.
Thomas-Greenfield was optimistic that the U.S would win the fight to protect the LGBT community.

President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to travel to the US later this month and the issue of Gay and lesbians right and the reversal of the Obnoxious anti-gay right law are expected to be discussed.

Speaking at the Itorin-Sabo residence of the late Iyaloja yesterday, the state Commissioner of Police, Abdul-Majeed Alli, sympathised with the family of the deceased and assured that the police had already swung into action to arrest the perpetrators.

The police boss revealed that the command has spread its dragnet of investigation network across the state in order to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of late Elewuju.

He also said the case was an acid test for his leadership as the new police boss in the state and implored the family members of the late octogenarian to cooperate with the command in its bid to conduct proper investigation into the crime.

“It is an unfortunate incident that has happened and I’m here on behalf of the inspector General of Police and the entire police force to commiserate with the family and to assure them of the Nigeria Police support.

“This is to reassure the family and the entire people of the state that our investigation and intelligence network has been spread across the state, very soon, we will make headway. Am assuring you that as soon as those behind the crime are caught, we will let you know”, CP Alli said.

Serena Williams Wins 21st Grand Slam, 6th Wimbledon Title, 4th Straight Grand Slam

Serena Williams won her sixth Wimbledon title Saturday, cruising past 21-year-old Garbine Muguruza in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. The win gives Williams her 21st Grand Slam title, second all-time only to Steffi Graf’s 22 in the Open era.
The championship was all but handed to Williams after the semifinals, when she dismantled oft-unworthy foil Maria Sharapova to set up a showdown with the No. 20 seed in Muguruza. Perhaps this made Serena a little too relaxed for her final match. Her serve was a little off, and it looks like she may have forgotten when it was championship point, much to the confusion of her supporters:
Serena Williams Wins Sixth Wimbledon Title, Fourth Straight Grand Slam
But you can do whatever the hell you want when you’re arguably the most dominant tennis player ever. Williams’s run is unprecedented. Her first Wimbledon title came in 2002, when she defeated sister Venus at the age of 20 to claim the world’s No. 1 ranking. Thirteen years later, Williams is the oldest No. 1 ranked player in WTA history, and she shows no signs of slowing down. The Wimbledon win also means, for the first time in 12 years, Williams is the owner of all four Grand Slam titles, a ridiculous accomplishment in the sport at age 33.
Williams is near the top of her game, at the top of her sport, and dominating in a way that is unprecedented for someone this late in their career. At this point, it’s hard to imagine her doing anything besides continuing to wreck fools who try standing in her way. Of course, we’re closer to the end of Serena’s career than to the beginning, which makes it extra special—even when Williams is still the runaway favorite–to watch her consistent brilliance on the court.
Enjoy it while you can.

The spiritual side of homosexuality

The spiritual side of homosexuality

by Matt Slick
The content of this article is not aimed at delving into the religious beliefs of homosexuals or how they view themselves spiritually. Instead, it is about the spiritual meaning of homosexuality according to the Bible.
Created Order
Biblically, homosexuality is a sin that is clearly condemned in Scripture (Lev. 18:22; 20:13; 1 Cor. 6:9-10; Rom. 1:26-28). But it seems to be more than "a mere sin." When we look at God and Adam and Eve, we see a manifestation of the will of God in making a man and a woman (Gen. 2:21-24), not a man and a man, nor a woman and a woman.  We see the heterosexual pattern that God established in order to fulfill the creation mandate:
"And God blessed them; and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth,'" (Gen. 1:28).
It is not possible to carry out God's command to multiply and fill the earth via homosexual unions. Therefore, homosexuality is a direct contradiction to the command God.
Messiah
In addition, it was through procreation that the Messiah would come, who would deliver sinners from eternal damnation. Biblically speaking, Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary who in turn was born through the heterosexual relationship of a married couple, and so on. Such progeny could never have been produced via homosexuality. So, if homosexuality were rampant, it would have been a threat to the messianic line -- with dire spiritual consequences for us all. Therefore, it could be said that homosexuality is an attack not only on the created order of God making man and woman in order to fill the earth and subdue it, but also upon the Messiah as well. Of course, it goes without saying that God's plan for the redemption of mankind ultimately could not be thwarted and that Jesus would have been born, died and resurrected, no matter how many homosexuals populated the earth.
Spiritual Consequences
Perhaps this is why in Romans 1 we see what appears to be a unique judgment upon the hearts and minds of homosexuals.
"For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error," (Rom. 1:26-27).
These two verses are a condemnation of homosexual practice. But notice that within them there is a declaration that God gives people over to the depravity of their hearts and minds when they're involved with homosexuality.  I know of no other sin mentioned in Scripture where it says the sinners are given over to it. Clearly, homosexuality has dire spiritual consequences.
Furthermore, not only are they given over to their sins (a type of judgment), but the result of this is that then they want to promote their sin to others.
"And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and, although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them," (Rom. 1:28-32).
This is exactly what we see in the homosexual agenda with its heavy-handed and persistent promotion in society, schools, movies, TV, internet, literature, and politics.  As Christians, we need to be cognizant of the spiritual consequence and its effect on the material world. We need to pray for them and their deliverance from this great sin.  Also, we Christians cannot remain isolated from the rising tide of homosexual social reconstruction. We need to take a stand against it so that we might promote the righteousness of God, and inform sinners of the need to repent.

Confused about Gods stand on Same-sex marriage? Please read

The Bible is the ultimate source of God's word, and it addresses people's concerns about homosexuality and same-sex marriage

After the US Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage recently, many people have begun searching for Bible verses that best answer concerns relating to gay union.
The Gospel Herald decided to assist people in their quest by compiling a list of Bible verses that directly address homosexuality and God's definition of marriage.
The first one is from John 15:18-21. It says: "If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you: 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me."
The Bible says that marriage is intended solely between one man and woman, and this is backed up by the verses Genesis 1:27-28, Matthew 19:4-6, and Malachi 2:15.
The first one read: "So God created man in his own image; in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds.'"
The second says: "'Haven't you read,' he replied, 'that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh?' So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.'"
Lastly, the verse from Malachi says: "Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union? And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth."
God deems homosexuality as a sin, and this is indicated in Romans 1:26-27 which says: "Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."
Leviticus 18:22 instructs: "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable."
Romans 1:18-18 warns people: "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them."

The Girl in the Mirror debuts

‎Plans have been concluded to release a novel targeted at encouraging the girl child across Nigeria and Africa.
On the continent, the girl child has always been known to be vulnerable to a whole lot of hazards created by the community, environment, culture and tradition. According to the author; Ayo George, the novel will debut on August 12; the world international youth day. This is carefully planned to give the book the desired effect, George said at a media ‎parley in Abuja.
“The girl child as we know is daily overwhelmed by the obvious dominance of her male counterparts. Standing up to face her fears and intimidating challenges and to eventually succeed remains a herculean task‎. I have seen in most parts that young girls, especially teenagers are treated below average in terms of education and all, with emphasis on some parts of the country where the plan is more about marriages than education. A lot of young girls bottle up their emotions and challenges and this affects their lives adversely,”
“‎The girl child has always been a victim of rape, assaults, bullying, teenage pregnancy, early and forced marriages etc, and more ‎often than none, she remains silent, endures the trauma, and can hardly fight back. This novel tries to open up a line of discussion that should continue. It tries to encourage the girl child to always see beyond her challenges and rise to become the best. I have a daughter, and would like to ensure that we the parent are close to her to the point where she can confide in us on any issue,” he concluded.
The Girl in the mirror is George’s tenth book in 12years and he hopes every African girl and family can learn there from.

Witnesses: Boko Haram attacks kill 145 in northeastern Nigeria

(CNN)At least 145 people were killed after Boko Haram militants raided three villages in the northeastern Nigerian state of Borno, witnesses said Thursday.

The Islamist militant group's attack late Wednesday in the Kukawa fishing village killed 97 people, resident Kawu Aisaye told CNN.

A senior Nigerian military official confirmed the attack, adding the military conducted airstrikes following the raid and is sending troops to assess the damage.

The official was unable to provide details about casualties.

A lawmaker in the region, Mohammed Tahir, told CNN that Boko Haram killed 48 people and injured 11 others Wednesday when the militants stormed two other villages near the town of Monguno.

Boko Haram, which loosely translates to "Western education is sin" in the Hausa language, is classified as a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department. It has been brutal against civilians and authorities alike as it tries to impose its extreme version of Sharia law over an expansive territory.

Residents of Borno state, which borders Chad, and other parts of northeastern Nigeria know this all too well. For years they have dealt with Boko Haram assaults, bombings, abductions and mass kidnappings -- the most infamous being the taking of more than 200 schoolgirls in the town of Chibok in 2014.

Earlier this year, Boko Haram pledged allegiance to ISIS.

Journalist Aminu Abubakar in Kano, Nigeria, contributed to this report.

Same-sex marriage in Nigeria

Nigeria recognizes neither same-sex marriages nor civil unions for same-sex couples. Homosexuality can land men up to 14 years in prison in Southern Nigeria and capital punishment for men in areas under Sharia Islamic Law. Proposals to constitutionally ban same-sex marriage compacted with severe penalties to those convicted of performing or participating in such, have twice surfaced. A similar bill is currently pending parliamentary approval.[1]

On January 18, 2007 the Federal Executive Council approved a law, Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act 2006, prohibiting same sex marriages and sent it to the National assembly for urgent action. According to the Minister of Justice, Chief Bayo Ojo, the law was pushed by President Olusegun Obasanjo following demonstrations for same sex marriage during the international conference on HIV/AIDS (ICASA) in 2005.

The proposed bill calls for five years imprisonment for anyone who undergoes, "performs, witnesses, aids, or abets" a same-sex marriage. It would also prohibit any display of a "same-sex amorous relationship" and adoption of children by gays or lesbians.[2] The bill is expected to receive little or no opposition in Parliament. The same-sex marriage ban would make Nigeria the second country in Africa to criminalize such unions. In 2005, the Ugandan constitution was amended to ban same-sex marriage.[3]

The same bill would also call for five years imprisonment for involvement in public advocacy or associations supporting the rights of lesbian and gay people. Included in the bill is a proposal to ban any form of relationship with a gay person. The intent of the bill is to ban anything remotely associated with being 'gay' or just gay in the country.[4]

In February 2006, the United States State Department condemned the proposal. In March 2006, 16 international human rights groups signed a letter condemning the bill, calling it a violation of the freedoms of expression, association and assembly guaranteed by international law as well as by the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights and a barrier to the struggle against the spread of AIDS. Some sources claim that Nigeria has the world's third-highest population of persons with AIDS: 3.6 million Nigerians are infected with HIV.[5]
