Bizman sends SOS to IGP, says ‘Corporal after my life’

By Bianca Iboma

A businessman, Afamefuna Umeano, has cried to the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to save him from the hands of a police corporal, who has been intimidating him.
Umeano wants the IGP to investigate the activities of the corporal and other accomplices who have allegedly held the community by the jugular.
He said his ordeals started when a bank driver, Frank, allegedly stole his Volkswagen Golf car, with registration, CQ 28 LND.
According to him, he later discovered that the car, valued at N600,000, was sold to the corporal serving in the Ebonyi State Police Command for N200,000.
“As a policeman, he should have known that it was wrong to buy a stolen item. He should have considered the value of the car before paying for it. This was the question I put to him and since that day, he has been threatening to kill me,” Umeano alleged.
In a petition through his lawyers, Luminex Legal Consult, he pleaded with the IGP to investigate the activities of the corporal, alleging: “He is running a syndicate. The syndicate is so powerful that they have connection in the court. If members commit a crime, the syndicate knows how to quash the case in court. The syndicate has infiltrated the police, as all the petitions written to the state commissioner of police are traced and removed from the files, so it can never reach the CP.
“I am appealing to IGP Ibrahim Idris to wade into the matter and make the culprit pay for it. The corporal and the bank driver should be brought to book. The Corporal has many cases of car theft and many crimines hanging around his neck.”
