Buhari, Atiku and Fayose are living the talks

Given the several promises by several political parties especially the present ruling party, it is obvious that Nigerians have been swindled psychologically.

In a very daring and most shamefully un- African way, our leaders have reneged on the wheel of promises that rode them to power.

Jobs, they promised, none they offered. Security, they shouted, the usual they achieved. Economic buoyancy they promised, serious inflation we are seeing. Prices of commodities have skyrocketed to the most unbearable state in recent times.

Politicians have found an infamous inheritance of deceit, lies in forms of tricks, known baits and most painfully obvious camouflage of truth.

Wondering why this very time of painful reflection of 2015, and its many promise-filled rallies, which witnessed huge funding that made the rich politicians and their cronies richer, while it promised the poor Nigerians shear naughty political rhetoric that time has shown, as always, to be the enduring deceit of the ruling class.

From one political party to the other, they continued in their lust for power and insatiable economic desire to permeate political parties in their overall aim to decimate common resources.

Not many suspected but many obviously knew it was the same old vicious circle of impunity and lust for power.

But of all Nigerian politicians, I found these three worthy of our trust and support- Gov. Ayodele Fayose, President Muhammadu Buhari, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Whether people of letters agree or not, they are people who have offered what they personally promised.

At the inception of Buhari, despite his political party’s continued strategy of unthinkable promises, the president has been very modest and realistic in his handling of promises, as he has been fighting corruption, which he said could kill Nigeria.

Also is, Ayodele Fayose, who promised to concentrate on development of artisans (which in every economy, whether developed or not are drivers of the economy), which he had done through the refundable grants with incredible moratorium to artisans, while he has not stopped the tempo of his promised stomach infrastructure, as well as he living up to his obligations to the elite class.

Not only that, Fayose’s Buy Made in Nigeria campaign is most genuine in all fronts because recently, his own biological son graduated from a Nigerian Private University. He is living the talk. These two contrasting political figures will go down well in history, at least, in the areas I have highlighted.

Atiku Abubakar has always being an advocate of restructuring, employing his vast political network for canvasing regional independence. Being from the North, where restructuring is viewed differently, he was able to continue to prove his independent mind while winning more of his compatriots on the side of restructuring-the current talk of the elites.

To this end, he was able to win the support of former military President, Gen Ibrahim Babangida (Rtd) who referred to him as the lone voice for restructuring.

As we hope politicians live-up to their campaign promises while we the citizenry give our continued support, posterity is our last hope of appraisal.
