i love amala so much – Sola Kosoko-Abina, Nollywood Actress

By Christy Anyanwu

Sola Kosoko-Abina (daughter of ace actor, Jide Kosoko) has acted several movies. Her dad’s movie Omo Olorire shot her into limelight in 2001. A graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, she also obtained a diploma in Performing Arts at the same university and was sponsored by the Federal Government alongside her dad, Fathia Balogun and few others actors.  She has produced three movies viz Sindara, Wosi Kenke, Ese ni. She hails from Isale Eko and proudly tells Sunday Sun that she’s a direct descendant of King Kosoko of Lagos. She’s married to an Architect and blessed with a baby girl.

Favourite colour

Red. I fell in love with red, because I realized film directors prefer bright colours. I’m an actress and as such I realize that red matches any colour. You can use red beads on a green dress, you can use red beads on a blue dress, and you can wear red shoes with red purse on a yellow dress. As a matter of fact, the combination of yellow and red is lovely, fantastic. I just somehow love it and I found myself using red with almost everything.

Favourite food

Amala, either the white or the black. The white is called cassava flour and the black is called yam flour. I like Amala with ewedu, okra or apon with croaker fish. I don’t know why I love Amala so much but I know it’s easily digestible. I love fish generally but croaker is the best of them. I hardly eat meat. I don’t eat red meat; I can only eat goat meat. Fish is my best and croaker is my favourite.

Favourite holiday spot

I like the UK. I love the London Aisle in the UK.

Favourite car

Well, I like sporty cars though I don’t use any because it’s not good for my kind of job. I like cars that are not too big.

Favourite book

I read literature a lot. I’ve read The Gods Are Not To Blame; The Trials Of Brother Jero and Things Fall Apart. I just finished reading Things Fall Apart. I have read it three or four times but just read it again. Now, I’m going back to The Gods Are Not To Blame and I have read Kurumi too. I’m never tired of reading.

Favourite fashion accessory

I wear any accessory as long as it’s beautiful but I don’t like bogus and extravagant earrings or neckpiece. I only use them on set when I’m working but you will rarely see me using them on a normal day. I’m a very simple person and as simple as possible with what I wear.

Favourite leader

Babatunde Raji Fashola. He was really transparent as governor of Lagos State. When you are convinced that this person is good, there’s no going back on that. He tried for Lagosians as a governor.

Favourite weather

I prefer cold weather because the rate at which I use my air-conditioner, is reduced. Also, I normally don’t like too much AC because it’s not comfortable on my legs, my bones. I enjoy cold weather because I hate sweating as it gets me dirty. I can’t drive a car without AC. If my AC is faulty, I want to repair it that same minute but I only travel during winter. I travel only once during summer to the US. I enjoy the spring weather.

Favourite designer

I wear a lot of Boohoo, but regarding perfumes I love Elizabeth Arden. It’s my most preferred.

Favourite movie

I will pick Sindara produced by me. I have acted in a lot of very lovely movies but I can’t really say this is my favourite. Sindara is one unique movie and you can hardly see any concept close to it. The actors confirmed it, the directors confirmed it, people called and commended me after watching Oluwasindara and that happens to be the name of my first child.
