Iheanacho to halt Manchester United run
By Joe Apu
Back to action Leicester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho will get his chance to begin his Leicester City career on a strong note today by helping his team to stop the riotous winning of Manchester United as they visit Old Traffod.
Leicester City coach Shakespare who had expressed joy at the retutn of Iheanacho to training would be looking forward to the young Nigerian combining well with Jamie Vardy to give Manchester United a hell of a time. After a whirlwind start to the Premier League season with back-to-back 4-0 wins over West Ham United and Swansea City, the table-topping Reds will be looking to make it a hat-trick of victories before the international break when 2015/16 Premier League champions Leicester City make the trip to Old Trafford for this evening kick-off.
Incidentally, this was the only league match that United scored four goals in last term, in a 4-1 triumph last September, so can Jose Mourinho’s men keep up their free-scoring form against the Foxes, a situation Shakespare would want to avoid this time around.
United will be aware of Leicester’s ability going into the game, the Foxes look like a side who could challenge for a top 6 finish despite having a tough round of opening fixtures despite not having new injury problems going into the game. Luke Shaw and Ashley Young are back in training after playing 60 minutes for the U23 side, defender Marcos Rojo is still months from returning from serious knee ligament damage.
Leicester’s Robert Huth (ankle) and Wes Morgan (back), midfielders Danny Drinkwater (thigh)and Vicente Iborra (groin) and forward Kelechi Iheanacho (toe) were ruled out of Leicester’s League Cup clash against Sheffield United on Tuesday night, so could be unavailable for the game at Old Trafford.
Manchester United have lost just two of their 22 Premier League meetings with Leicester City, with only one of these at Old Trafford. Leicester City will provide some fire power going forward, having scored in all but one of their 15 Premier League matches under Craig Shakespeare. Jamie Vardy has scored in eight of these games, and after an injury scare against Brighton, the hitman should be available to face United.
Romelu Lukaku has had a fine start to life in the Premier League with Manchester United so far, and will be looking to become the first United player to score in each of their opening three Premier League appearances for the club. The Belgian has scored 15 goals in his last 11 Premier League appearances at home (13 in 10 for Everton, two in one for Manchester United) – and will hope for more of the same against the Foxes.
