Kano splashes football kits, money on 1206 clubs in the state

Kano State Government yesterday splashed money and a variety of football kits on 1206 football clubs in the state as part of its commitment to the development of sports.
Distributing the kits during the interval of a friendly match between Nigeria’s Super Eagles (Team B) and Kano Pillars Football Club at the Sani Abacha Stadium Kano, the State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said the gesture was designed to inspire the clubs to greater achievement.
He noted that Kano State, with over 1500 clubs, had the highest number of clubs in Nigeria , saying that out of this figure, the state government had identified a total of 1206 as beneficiaries of the present gesture.
According to the governor, the 40 clubs playing at the Nationwide League in the state would get a set of jersey, 3 match balls and N50, 000 each, the clubs at the Premier League would get a set of jersey, 3 match balls and N30,000 while adding that clubs in Division 1, 2, and 3 would get 1set of jersey and 2 balls.
Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation, Dr Sanusi Mohammed who spoke at the event on behalf of the Federation, expressed delight at the gesture and tasked the clubs and the players to take advantage of the donation to improve their games.
He noted that the state government had done the right thing remarking that the gesture would go a long way, not only to promote football in the state but in curbing youth restiveness.
