Vandalism of govt properties in Nasarawa worries Al-Makura

Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State of Nigeria has expressed worry over the level of vandalism of government infrastructure being witnessed in the state especially in Keffi and Karu axis of the state.
He attributed the insecurity in those areas due to the population growth of workers in Abuja who live in those areas, adding that the situation is capable of affecting the focus of the administration which is determined to make the city befitting for all.
The governor stated this, on Wednesday, in Lafia, the state capital, while receiving the newly posted Assistant Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC zone ‘H’, in Makurdi, Mr. Lagard Osaro, who was in the state for two days working visit.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mohammed Abdullahi, Governor Al-Makura said the urban renewal initiative of the state government was geared towards restructuring and re-engineering the state with the best mode of infrastructure development taken its proximity to Abuja.
He task the Commandant to ensure effective security of government properties in those areas and ensure the new building regulations are maintained.
Speaking earlier, Mr. Osaro said he was in the state to inspect facilities of men of the Corps and ensure that the Corps synergies with other security agencies to ensure safety of lives and properties of the people of Nasarawa state.
He commended the state government for providing a befitting office accommodation and other logistics support to the Corps.
