The Girl in the Mirror debuts

‎Plans have been concluded to release a novel targeted at encouraging the girl child across Nigeria and Africa.
On the continent, the girl child has always been known to be vulnerable to a whole lot of hazards created by the community, environment, culture and tradition. According to the author; Ayo George, the novel will debut on August 12; the world international youth day. This is carefully planned to give the book the desired effect, George said at a media ‎parley in Abuja.
“The girl child as we know is daily overwhelmed by the obvious dominance of her male counterparts. Standing up to face her fears and intimidating challenges and to eventually succeed remains a herculean task‎. I have seen in most parts that young girls, especially teenagers are treated below average in terms of education and all, with emphasis on some parts of the country where the plan is more about marriages than education. A lot of young girls bottle up their emotions and challenges and this affects their lives adversely,”
“‎The girl child has always been a victim of rape, assaults, bullying, teenage pregnancy, early and forced marriages etc, and more ‎often than none, she remains silent, endures the trauma, and can hardly fight back. This novel tries to open up a line of discussion that should continue. It tries to encourage the girl child to always see beyond her challenges and rise to become the best. I have a daughter, and would like to ensure that we the parent are close to her to the point where she can confide in us on any issue,” he concluded.
The Girl in the mirror is George’s tenth book in 12years and he hopes every African girl and family can learn there from.
